Prayers Needed

America needs our prayers. In my lifetime, I have not seen our country so divided and so filled with hate. It is absolutely crushing my heart. I have always been so proud to be American. Right now, I am embarrassed by the behavior I see around me. I am embarrassed by the things I see posted on Facebook. I am embarrassed by the grown men and women who can’t have civil discussions without interrupting one another and talking over each other. I’m embarrassed by posts that say, “If you don’t agree with me, then unfollow me because we can’t be friends.” This is not a kindergarten playground.

We do not have a perfect presidential candidate. They both say and do things that go against God’s word (just like you and me). They both want to create policies that go against what scripture says is right and good. They both have made mistakes in their past (just like you and me). They will both make mistakes in their future (just like you and me). I keep hearing the phrase, “I will just have to vote for the lesser of two evils.” They are both sinners (just like you and me). A sin is a sin and there is no ranking system. Regardless of who you vote for, you are voting for a sinner who is going to do things that go against God’s law.

That sounds pretty hopeless.

Which makes me wonder, what would happen if we spent the next 33 days bathing our country in prayer. How different would our country look if we replaced the time we spend on social media sharing divisive memes and posts with time in prayer, lifting up one another to the throne.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12

Our fight is not against each other. It is against the evil that is trying to permeate our nation. We have a way to fight back. Prayer is a powerful tool.

I have attached a 30 day prayer journal that is focused on praying for the leaders of our country and for each other. I pray that we can find ways to come together in unity.
